What Yes Ma’am is about
You are at the bottom of the ladder on a military base: the recruit who gets the worst jobs and the least respect. Sergeant Diana Demont is the opposite. She runs the place, she is married to the Colonel who outranks everyone, and nobody would dream of speaking to her out of turn.
The story starts when she singles you out — not to punish you, but to take you under her wing. From there the series plays with the gap between the officer everyone sees and the person underneath the uniform, and with how much you are willing to risk in a place where her husband’s rank decides everything.
With 30 episodes, the series has far more room than a typical five-episode short to develop its setup: rank, discipline and a marriage that is supposed to be untouchable.
